About Dr. Aukward, Veterinarian

Dr. Aukward earned her doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from Virginia Tech, graduating with honors. She initially worked as an associate veterinarian in a busy hospital in her home town of Washington, DC until she relocated to King George County and opened her housecall practice in 1991. She has been included in publications such as the 1991/1992 edition of "Who's Who in Science and Medicine" and the CRCA's 2007 "Guide to America's Top Veterinarians." Dr. Aukward is also a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and Phi Zeta, the national honor society of Veterinary Medicine. Her approach to veterinary medicine is holistic and informative.

In addition to her housecall practice, Dr. Aukward provides Veterinary Services to the small mammal population at the KG Petco. She has volunteered for many years at the King George Animal Shelter, in support of Relay for Life, and with the Safe Nights program to feed and shelter the homeless in Southern Maryland. In her spare time, Dr. Aukward enjoys swimming, hiking, and traveling with her family. Their favorite downtime location is the beach at Hatteras Island, where dogs are always welcomed!

Whitney Kidd, LVT

We are fortunate to have a Licensed Veterinary Technician to round out our staff. Whitney is able to assist in surgeries and on house calls. Whitney earned a BA in English and passed the National Veterinary Technician licensing exam after completing the Vet Tech program at NOVA CC. She worked for several years at Just Cats Clinic in Fredericksburg before the birth of her twin girls. Whitney’s interests include behavior, neurology, cancer and rehabilitation.

Tim Hartnett, IT/Finance

Tim's behind the scenes operations keep this busy housecall practice on the road. He manages IT and financial functions, assists on housecalls in a pinch, and oversees vehicle maintenance.

In his spare time, Tim enjoys tennis, traveling, beach vacations, playing with his dog, and spending time with his family.

If you have an emergency during housecall hours (8:30 AM to 5:00 PM Monday-Friday), please leave a phone or text message. If my housecall schedule does not allow me to get back to you in a timely manner, please contact your nearest full service animal hospital. Evenings and weekends, I recommend that you contact this emergency clinic (click on link below for contact information):

The trip fee is waived for residents of Bayberry.
